Hello! Welcome to our site. I am Delores Adams, Founder and Editor-in-chief of The Aunt Jemimah Post, where politics and spirituality intersect. Our primary aim is to provide commentary on political issues of the day with emphasis on uplifting the human spirit.
Too often, during political campaigns, which are now ongoing, humanity is forced to take a back seat to fancy political rhetoric used by those touting so-called small government vs. big government.
Such, in reality, ultimately results in heated debates and public confusion about the people’s money or individual power rather than truly focus on the quality of life for all that includes health, education and welfare.
Thus, popular terms such as a conservative, a liberal or an independent has taken center stage where intellectual warfare has virtually replaced wisdom and cooperation amongst way too many of our political leaders and candidates.
Yet, every day is a new day ready for a new beginning, if only in thought. By remembering that we are spiritual beings meant to share rather than take, to love rather than hate we hasten our journey towards a more perfect union with our self, each other, our country and, indeed, the entire world.
Here at the AJ Post we hope to help light the way.
Religion vs. Spirituality
Simply put, we are not the body. We are Spirit, holy creations of God born with free will to create a happy life. Yet, we are connected by Spiritual Law, which is Universal Love.
When we stop loving, we forget who we are and suffer dearly.
Thus, religion necessarily becomes the means to permanently remove pain and suffering and remember who we are.
Spirituality, then, is our truest expression in the world, which engenders peace, universal love and happiness for all.
About Our Name
To me, the name of Jemimah is a lovely feminine name that resonates peace. Jemimah likely means dove in Hebrew (Webster’s Dictionary) and beautiful in Arabic (traditional sources).
Thus, inwardly appears the image of a lovely girl-child skipping freely through a sunlit park. Which then transforms into that of a young woman on a wind-swept day, eagerly running forth with outstretched arms ready to meet her lover. Yet, she is destined for loftier pursuits and thereby help save the world instead. And so, the beautiful dove becomes a beam of light that will follow her along the way.
Used to market a uniquely boxed food product since the 1890s, today the name of Aunt Jemimah together with the original antebellum caricature of a broadly smiling Negress in a headscarf, likely meant to depict the so-called “happy” kitchen slave, still evokes mixed feelings in our great society.
A Mixed Illusion
For some Americans, inbred mockery or a sense of warmth and comfort abounds. While for other Americans, dark shadows of slavery and racism still lingers.
Tired of being defamed and caricatured since being here, many outraged African Americans continue to call for the end of the historic Aunt Jemimah, an enduring symbol of pain and suffering.
Meanwhile, until the trademark holder removes this insidious reminder, or further transforms it, there is a better way.
A Voice for Aunt Jemimah
Since the historic Aunt Jemimah is essentially an idea, we can transform this false image within our own minds and thus allow the real Aunt Jemimah to come forth. Hence, the best way to eradicate a bad idea is to replace it with a good one.
And so, here at The Aunt Jemimah Post we aim to do just that! Keeping in mind that America’s slaves had no freedoms, including a voice regarding their own destiny. Today, we can give Aunt Jemimah that voice! And believe me she has plenty to say.
Yet, surprisingly enough, Aunt Jemimah will not be speaking to us with bitterness or regret. She is well beyond that now. She has learned the hard lessons that slavery and racism came to teach her, and now stands ready to speak clearly with wisdom and love to all who cares to listen.
To this end, I will be Aunt Jemimah’s voice and the Aunt Jemimah Post will be her means.
All Are Welcome
So, come, let us reason together. Except for hatefulness and deliberate vulgarity, we are about inclusion here, not exclusion. Thus, your opinion matters. This means that truthseekers everywhere are welcome to join our conversations. As the AJ Post grows, we will be open to more contributors. Together, we can save the world, blog by blog.

Thanks Judy for your lovely comment:
“Well done, Dee. Taking the negative and making it positive, kind of like the LGBTQ activists embrace “Queer” and “Gay” and Lesbian. Until they did that I did not understand that mechanism, and it took me a long time to be comfortable with it. Now I see Aunt Jemimah as a lovely little girl running in the sunshine, like the lovely little girls running through the flowers in the Color Purple. I’ll come back and read more soon.” ~Judy Whitehouse
